Fans Slam Lady Gaga For 'Ruining Her Beautiful Face' After She Stepped Out Looking ‘Different’ On The Red Carpet

Lady Gaga, born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, is an American pop star, songwriter and actress. The award-winning artist rose to fame in 2008 when she released her debut single, "Just Dance." The singer quickly garnered international fame due to her elaborate costumes, catchy lyrics, impressive dance movements and powerful vocal talents. Her debut album, "The Fame," was released in 2008. She went on to release hits like “Poker Face," "Bad Romance" and "Born This Way." 

While maintaining her highly successful music career, the singer ventured into acting. Gaga appeared in "Machete Kills" and "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For." In 2015, the Grammy-winning artist joined the anthology series "American Horror Story." Lady Gaga received a Golden Globe Award for her dazzling performance in the series. In 2018, Lady Gaga wowed the critics with her remarkable performance in her first lead role as Ally Maine in "A Star Is Born."

In 2023, it was announced that Lady Gaga would star alongside Joaquin Phoenix in the “Joker” sequel, “Joker: Folie à Deux,” as the iconic comic book character Harley Quinn. Lady Gaga’s performance in the film has been highly anticipated by many, including critics and her loyal fans. 

It was also announced that the film would feature musical performances, which would surely highlight the singer’s vocal prowess and talents. Some of Lady Gaga’s fans were also excited about the film's press rollout, as they expected the pop star to dress up in unique looks – a thing she was known for in the past – to match the character she’s playing. 

However, during the film's red carpet premiere in September 2024 in Los Angeles, California, people online claimed the singer's physical appearance had become unrecognizable, arguing she had had too much Botox. Keep reading to learn more.

At the red carpet premiere of “Joker: Folie à Deux,” Lady Gaga wore a beautiful black Celine cropped jacket and an asymmetrical mermaid skirt gown. Women’s Wear Daily reported that the Grammy-winning singer accessorized her look with a diamond-encrusted Tiffany & Co. bracelet and earrings from their 2024 collection. 

While Lady Gaga's look certainly cemented her as a style icon, some people had differing comments about her face. 

“Love love love her! So talented, but too much filler, too much Botox! You don’t need that, you are naturally beautiful!!!” a user said on Instagram, echoing others who said, “Love her but she is ruining her beautiful face – now looking like a mask like all the celebs – yuk.”

In another comment, someone even said she “Doesn’t look like lady Gaga. Not at all.” 

“Too much botox,” a third person agreed. 

“There is more work done on her face than a major construction project,” a fourth person added. 

On Reddit, some users even gave the actress backhanded compliments, saying she looked like a “chameleon” and that they did not recognize her because of her face. 

“Her face looks different,” one pointed out. 

However, not all comments were negative. Some still praised the actress's bold choice to embody her character even on the red carpet. 

“If anyone can pull off bleached eyebrows, it’s her. Her face looks divine here,” a fan said on Reddit. 

“There's something different about her, there's joy, she's in a really good place in her life. You can tell in her smile,” another shared on Instagram. 

Allegations that Lady Gaga has had cosmetic surgery have been in the air since 2011. Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, the singer had already set the record straight about the rumors surrounding her appearance. 

"I have never had plastic surgery, and there are many pop singers who have. I think that promoting insecurity in the form of plastic surgery is infinitely more harmful than an artistic expression related to body modification,” she said at the time.
