Fans Criticize Sarah Jessica Parker For Wearing ‘Awful’ Mismatched Shoes & Bow
Oct 10, 2023
Sarah Jessica Parker is beautiful inside and out. She is incredibly talented and is most known for her work as an actress. She has been an icon in the entertainment industry for several decades. Parker has been a respected actress for many years. She made her Broadway debut at the young age of 11 before continuing to act on stage. Later, she landed roles in films, including “Hocus Pocus,” “The First Wives Club” and “Failure to Launch.”
One of her most famous and critically acclaimed roles came from her time starring as Carrie Bradshaw on the TV series “Sex and the City (SATC)” from 1998 until 2004. The show was recognized for breaking new ground when it came to female representation on-screen. “Sex and the City” was a huge success and to this day continues to have a solid following, so much so that in 2021, a spin-off series was released, and Parker portrayed her character again in the films titled “Sex and the City” and “Sex and the City 2.”
It’s not surprising that fans have loved Parker’s work, and critics have also received it well. The actress has received many accolades, including Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Awards. Considering all of this, it’s easy to see that Parker has led a remarkable life. On top of that, she is also an incredibly gorgeous woman and has been recognized as a style icon by many.
However, even Parker hasn’t been able to avoid the harsh criticism about her appearances or fashion statements. She attended the New York City Ballet’s 2023 Fall Gala on Oct. 5, 2023, wearing a black bow in her hair and a pair of different shoes, which led to some blowback from followers. Keep reading for the details.
Parker has always loved good shoes. She started her own shoe line in 2014, and in an interview with CBS Mornings in the same year, she shared her experiences as a shoe lover.
“What I bring to it is a lot of years of experience wearing far more shoes than a person in a life typically wears,” she revealed.
The star added that her adventure with shoes helped her learn a lot about the construction, cost, and design of shoes from working with designers. She disclosed that she missed the simplicity of the shoes she grew up around, particularly the single-strapped soles, which she sought to bring back in addition to making the production quality just as great.
In another interview in 2017, Parker quoted one of her long-held beliefs, “Shoes maketh the woman.” During the discussion with NET-A-PORTER, she revealed that while the brain and heart make the woman, shoes play a vital and sometimes necessary role.
Parker, who has long been regarded as an avid fan of shoes, confirmed or refuted some myths about her addiction to footwear. She debunked the myth that she had a closet full of shoes and stated that her wardrobe would probably disappoint her fans. Additionally, the actress who has a pair of shoes named after her by Manolo Blahnik also disproved the theory that she has an extensive collection of shoes.
“I don’t buy a lot of shoes, never have,” she shared. “I borrow thousands and thousands of pairs of shoes and I think that’s probably where the myth and the sort of mischaracterization (come from)... but I don’t have a huge amount of my own shoes."

On Oct. 5, 2023, Parker turned up on the New York City Ballet’s 2023 Fall Gala’s red carpet with some fashion choices that captivated fans. In a clip posted by People, she wore a ballet-inspired, off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera dress with a flouncy, ankle-length tulle skirt resembling a tutu.
Her accessories included some diamond rings and earrings, a Vacheron Constantin watch, a shimmering silver purse, and a large black bow with long ribbons that reached the hem of her skirt in her hair. However, one part of her outfit that drew the most attention was her mismatched shoes.
Parker wore two shoes, each in a different color from her shoe line, SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker. She swapped two colors from the line, which she sells in Veuve green with Kelly pink, or Midnight black and Orchid purple, and wore one black and one pink pair.
Parker’s style was inspired by Carrie Bradshaw in a SATC season 3 episode where the character wore a metallic red Christian Louboutin sandal on her right foot and a teal one on the left, which sparked a fashion trend. The mom of three explained that she wore the different colors because they were beautiful colors that paired well with her dress.
However, some fans were not so sure about the combination. While some applauded the fashion icon’s boldness, others questioned its wisdom.
“Is that a new trend? Two different shoes,” someone asked.
Another person commented, “2 different shoes? Awful.”
“UGH! The shoe schtik is stupid. And the hair,” another person declared.
Some also thought her dressing wasn’t age-appropriate.
“She thinks shes still 15 😂,” someone jeered.
Another person responded, “Too old for that look.”
“Please, start dressing accordingly to your age finally!!!!!!!!!!!” another person urged.
Another person said, “Little old for a bow! Ridiculous.”
