On November 30, 2024, 18-year-old Lucia Sofia Ponti, named after her legendary grandmother Sophia Loren, made her honorary debut at the Le Bal des Débutantes at the Shangri-La Hotel in Paris.

Lucia, the daughter of actress Sasha Alexander and film director Edoardo Ponti, glowed in an exquisite Giorgio Armani Privé gown. 

And fans quickly noted the striking resemblance between Lucia and her iconic grandmother, Sophia Loren.

In an exclusive with Hello! Lucia shared insights about her grandmother’s wardrobe, saying: “My grandmother always believed in timeless elegance and the importance of wearing something that reflects your true self. Growing up, she taught me the value of simplicity, tailoring, and always adding a touch of uniqueness to your outfit.”

She continued: “I tend to go for dresses or clothes that make me feel confident but also are comfortable to wear.”

Lucia reflected on past debutante gowns, admiring how each dress captured the wearer’s identity. 

She aimed to find a dress that would do the same for her, and fans were quick to praise how perfectly the Giorgio Armani gown embodied her unique identity.

Lucia expressed how meaningful it was for her to participate in the Parisian ball, mainly because of the charitable causes it supports, like the health association ARCFA and the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. 

She also shared her 14-year dance background, highlighting her excitement to perform the waltz in her gown.

“However, I would use that time to do my own personal fashion shows for her and the rest of my family. I would try on the hair pieces or the jewelry and jokingly strut around the house having no understanding of why my grandmother wore such outfits or pieces.”
