After experiencing infertility, Cindy and Jeffrey explored fostering and became certified foster parents in 2015. In a chat with Good Morning America, the lovely couple, who has welcomed over 30 children into their home, detailed how they feel about the process. Jeffrey explained:
“It's really, really gratifying for us. We're very excited about it. Every time we take a child in our house, you never really know how it's going to pan out long term by the time you start.”
When Cindy and Jeffrey met Cece for the first time, she was only meant to stay with them for a night until a long-term place was found. Cece was 2 months old at the time but managed to leave a lasting impression on Cindy and Jeffrey. Cindy recalled:
“Once we saw her cute little face, we jokingly told them, ‘If you need a place long term, let us know.”
The following day, Child and Family Services, the foster care agency Cindy and Jeffrey work through, told them they could use them as a long-term placement for Cece if they were serious about it. After 1,954 days of working with that arrangement, the loving family finally adopted Cece as their child on May 11, 2023. Jeffrey revealed:
“We had very high hopes in the beginning that we would get to keep Cece long term and be able to adopt her into our family, and we're ecstatic that it finally, finally got to that point.”
After adopting Cece, Cindy and Jeffrey, who have also adopted two other kids after fostering them, plan to adopt her half-brother, who they had been fostering. The couple loves what they do and encourages other people to understand the fostering process and become foster parents too.
