Lisa Menzies of Castle Pines loves her 3-year-old Golden Retriever Catcher with all her heart. In March 2020, while Lisa and her husband were out of town, Catcher ran away from their home.

Speaking with reporters from KDVR, Lisa told of how the family was having work done on their home that day. When the contractor went out for lunch, he closed the door behind him, but a gust of wind blew it open and Catcher ran out. Lisa was alerted to the incident thanks to her Ring doorbell, which recorded Catcher’s escape.

A million different thoughts ran through Lisa’s mind as the terrible situation unfolded before her eyes. Lisa worried that her beloved pooch would be stolen or run over on a busy highway. Even worse was the knowledge that she could do nothing about it as she was out of town. Thankfully, a good Samaritan stepped in and put an end to Lisa’s anxiety.

As Lisa contemplated searching for her dog, she got a text from a FedEx driver, alerting her to the fact that he had found Catcher. The brief text message told the worried dog mommy that he would be returning Catcher to the address on his tag. A few minutes later, the anonymous FedEx driver pulled up to Lisa’s home. Exiting the truck with the cuddly canine, the deliveryman brought Catcher inside the family’s home and closed the door behind him, making sure that the entryway was locked.

The driver’s heroic actions were also recorded by the Ring door camera. Again talking to KDVR, Lisa says that when she watched the footage, the tenderness and care the driver displayed made her think of the song "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion, the theme of the 1997 "Titanic" film.

Catcher is once again roaming around the Menzies’ home, entertaining the family with his playful antics because of the kindness of the FedEx driver. Lisa made sure to praise the driver in her interview with reporters, noting how he took time out of his day and interrupted his delivery route all to make sure that Catcher could be safe.

What do you think of how the FedEx deliveryman brought Catcher back to the Menzies' home after he ran away? Has your dog or cat ever run away from home? How would you react if you were Lisa or the driver?
