Expectant Mother Rumer Willis Shares Tender Moment With Dad Bruce Willis Whom She Praises As ‘So Cool’
Mar 21, 2023
When it comes to top-notch actors in Hollywood, Bruce Willis is a name that many people would put on that list. He is most famous for his roles in action films but has also shown to have quite a diverse set of talents, appearing in films and television shows in a variety of genres and even showing off his skills as a singer.
The star announced his retirement on March 30, 2022, and has since received plenty of support from his fans, friends and family members. Bruce had been a pivotal figure in the acting world for more than 40 years, which is why fans and loved ones were left heartbroken when they heard the news that he was retiring. During his acting career, Bruce appeared in a variety of films and television shows. Some of his most popular films include "Pulp Fiction," "Armageddon," "The Sixth Sense," "Looper" and the "Die Hard" franchise.
Bruce has been married two times and is the father of five daughters. He first married actress Demi Moore in 1987, and the two had three daughters together: Rumer, Scout and Tallulah Willis. Although the couple was regarded as a Hollywood powerhouse, they ended up divorcing in 2000 but have remained good friends and great co-parents ever since.
In 2009, Bruce married his second wife, model Emma Heming. Together they have two daughters, Mabel and Evelyn Penn.
Since Bruce's aphasia diagnosis became public in March 2022, the actor's blended family has shown their love and support through his difficult transition. Sadly, in February 2023, they came together again to announce more devastating news — he'd also been diagnosed with dementia.
One month later, the family got together to celebrate Bruce's 68th birthday. Among his loved ones present was Bruce's eldest daughter Rumer — who is currently pregnant with her first child — as she shared a heartwarming message for her dad.

Bruce's joyous 68th birthday celebration was captured on video and shared by his ex-wife, Moore, and reposted by other family members, including Rumer. In it, Bruce was in high spirits as all of his loved ones sang "Happy Birthday," and he even added his own humorous spin to the classic jingle. While singing, he held an end note for an extended moment before he said, "Just like that." He then ended the song with "Woohoo" followed by multiple "woos" and "right at it." Bruce and his family were incredibly joyful during the special family moment, as many of them erupted into laughter at the end of the song, while someone said, "That was so funny!" From the video, it's clear to see Bruce and his family thoroughly enjoying themselves as they celebrated his birthday, despite the sadness surrounding his current situation.
Rumer, 34, shared the video on her Instagram page alongside a throwback photo of Bruce holding her as a young girl. Her caption said:
"Happy Birthday Daddio I love you to the 🌙 You are so cool."
It's no doubt an especially emotional time for the actress and singer, as she is currently pregnant with her first child with her partner, musician Derek Richard Thomas. Rumer's large baby bump could clearly be seen in the birthday video, as she wore a baby blue dress and kept warm with a beige cardigan.
Moore shared more photos of the birthday celebration on her Instagram, including photos of the whole blended family altogether, Bruce with his three older daughters, a tender moment between Rumer and Bruce and more. The family even showed their support for the actor through their clothing choices — Tallulah wore a vintage Bruce Willis fan T-shirt on the day, while the man himself wore a cable-knit sweater embroidered with his initials, "BW."

Earlier in March, Rumer and Thomas had a baby shower in LA that was thrown by Moore, Scout and Tallulah, as reported by People. The parents-to-be performed together at the intimate party. Rumer looked gorgeous in a white fitted dress with a matching cardigan and wore her beautiful curly hair down. Also in attendance was "Dancing With the Stars" dancer Peta Murgatroyd, who is also pregnant.
During an appearance on the "Bathroom Chronicles" podcast in February 2023, Rumer revealed that being a mom was something she always wanted.
"It's like one of those weird things that I know sometimes people have such clarity about, like 'Oh, I want to be a musician, I want this,' and it was never a question for me that I wanted to be a mom," she said.
She added, "And that just felt like such a divine purpose and something that when I started thinking about it, felt like such joy." The expectant mom said she had spoken to Thomas about her excitement for special moments she would be able to share with her baby.
"I was talking to my partner the other day and saying, 'You know, when I go to the farmers market, I call it church because I leave and I feel so excited,'" she said. "And the idea of being able to bring my kids in like a little cart or something brings me so much delight, I can't even ... I can't wait."
Congratulations to Rumer and Thomas on their upcoming bundle of joy. We're sure the blended Willis family is just as excited to add a new member to their brood!
