‘Entitled’ Mother Tried To Shame Woman On Plane Into Giving Her Kid The Window Seat
Jun 28, 2023
You never know what to expect when you get on an airplane. People have shared all kinds of horror stories over the years about some of the wildest antics they’ve seen go down while high up in the sky while aboard their flight. From seeing people do yoga in their seats to seeing others get kicked off a plane for screaming at the flight attendants, there is no shortage of outlandish stories people have shared about flights they’ve been on.
In the case of one Reddit user, she had an encounter with an entitled passenger who tried to shame her in front of everybody as she rightfully took her assigned seat.
According to the original poster (OP), sitting in the middle seat got her “a little claustrophobic,” which is why she paid to get a window seat. On her flight back to Denver from Atlanta, she got on the aircraft earlier than the other passengers. As she walked down to her seat, she saw a mother and her child in the row. The mother was sitting in the middle seat while her child occupied her assigned seat.
“I walked up and very politely tell her it's my seat. I never, not once, raised my voice or lost my temper,” OP recalled as she politely informed the woman that it was her seat. Despite her very respectful tone, the woman chose to respond incredulously.
“Are you SERIOUS?" the woman shouted. "You don't have to be such A B*TCH!"
However, OP was not having her attitude and quipped back excellently. "Ma'am, I haven't been a b*tch at all. Not yet."
As the altercation got heated, many passengers started to take notice of them.
As mentioned, OP did not back down during the heated exchange with the entitled passenger. The woman whose child was occupying OP's paid seat hit back with another fiery response: "I'm NOT sitting next to you if you're a bitch,” which prompted OP to retort: "Then, if there are empty seats, I suggest you move if you don't want to sit next to me. That's my seat."
Shortly after, the flight attendant hurried to them and gave OP an embarrassed look because of the passenger’s unprovoked outburst. The attendant then told the fuming passenger to sit down in her correct seat and wait if there are no shows so they may transfer accordingly.
However, the loud conversation wasn’t enough for the passenger as she shouted on the aircraft how much of a “b*tch” OP was, which people from the plane did not believe.
“She then stands up and yells for the flight attendant because she "Isn't sitting next to a stupid b*tch,” OP continued to say.
Sadly, choosing to be comfortable in her paid seat did not fare well for OP as she had to experience such hassle and public humiliation from an entitled passenger.
“At the end of the day, I got my seat, wasn't claustrophobic, and she looked like an a**, but what is the deal with parents like that? I have three boys and I would never, ever expect people to give up seats for us. Certainly, not ones they paid extra for,” she went on to tell the users in the Reddit thread.

Redditors were in unison on their reaction to OP’s angering encounter with an entitled passenger.
“This tactic has probably got this person her own way from roughly the point of conception onwards. Surprise, this time it didn't work!” one user wrote.
“They're hoping that you'll "ThInK oF tHe ChIlDrEn" and just give up your window seat so that the little darling can be entertained by something other than mom. Good for you for sticking up for yourself. If more of us did this, perhaps those people would stop being so entitled,” another commented.
A mother in the thread commented, sharing her thoughts on the passenger’s entitlement.
“I’m a mom too, and I would never have thought of demanding my kid’s preferred seat. The only time I asked someone if it’s ok to switch seats was when my son, then 6, was seated across the aisle from me. I offered my aisle seat to the guy squished in the middle seat. He gladly switched,” someone reflected.
Meanwhile, others seemed to think that the rude passenger was up to something.
“This was an act. The lady knew what she was doing, hence the immediate hostile reaction. If she was truly surprised or unaware, she wouldn’t have turned the attitude up to 11 so fast,” someone pointed out. “As soon as I saw the look on her face when I told her to move, I thought that was probably the case. She's probably used to that working,” OP replied.
A Redditor even emphasized that the entitled passenger should have been “booted off” of the plane in the first place.
