Elvis' Music Is Alive — It's Living Within 16-Year-Old Singer
Jan 08, 2021
A young man has been dubbed the reincarnation of Elvis Presley. He was nothing but a 16-year-old kid when he got up on stage and opened his mouth to begin singing the famous Presley song "Blue Christmas" in front of millions of people in 2013 on "Ellen." In spite of his young age, David Thibault had everyone wondering if he was actually Presley in disguise!

The Resemblance Is Uncanny
While it has been a little more than seven years since French-Canadian singer Thibault awed the world on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" it only seems appropriate to resurrect the old video and keep up with what this fantastic star is doing now.
Thibault began his singing career when he started developing a keen interest in Presley after listening to his grandfather’s favorite tunes. “It started with my grandfather,” Thibault tells host Ellen DeGeneres during his appearance on the show in December 2013. He continues, “When he died he gave me his passion for Elvis.”
Thibault discovered that he not only liked Presley's music but that he could also sing just like he was the King himself! DeGeneres adds that Thibault had Presley-like looks to boot. David says that the “King of Rock and Roll" is his favorite singer and that he also admires the icon’s personality.
While Thibault was impressing everyone who heard him, his fan-base was small until he made a video performing Presley’s "Blue Christmas." The song was uploaded onto a local radio station’s YouTube channel, and it became an instant hit!
The response was likely beyond anything Thibault imagined. Within only a week, almost 5 million people had watched the clip and everyone was going insane about the teenager. To date, the video has amassed more than 14 million views.
It did not take long (only a couple of weeks, in fact) before DeGeneres had the teenager on her show to have him sing so that everyone across the globe could hear him. The result was stunning. Sure enough, Thibault could sing and sound just like the old musical star. His performance on the award-winning talk show has also done really well, with currently close to nine million views on YouTube. “Been a fan of Elvis all my life,” one viewer wrote. “And this is by far the best voice I have heard doing him. Class.”

After being on "Ellen," Thibault went on to be a contestant on the French version of "The Voice, The Voice: la plus belle voix" in 2015. For his blind audition, Thibault chose to sing another Presley classic, "Blue Suede Shoes." He ended up on French singer-songwriter Florent Pagny’s team. Thibault finished in third place and then went on tour with the show with seven other contestants, according to his Wikipedia page. He toured 18 French towns and was also scheduled to go on tour in his own home province, Quebec.
While it has now been years since a 16-year-old Thibault took to the DeGeneres' show, his sound is just as spectacular today. Looking through his Instagram right now, it is clear that a now 23-year-old Thibault is still pursuing his love of music. He also sometimes posts pictures of Presley himself, commemorating his birthday and even his death anniversary. What a nice way to pay tribute to your idol!
Young Singers Doing Justice To The King
Presley rose to the heights of popularity in the '50s. Even today, there are tons of Presley impersonators around. Las Vegas is notorious for having a huge amount of them. Each one is trying to cash in on the image of the king. You'll find them in every nook and cranny of sin city. You can get married by one or even have a funeral with one. So many people have tried emulating his sound, but none have ever been able to reach the bar. Since the passing of Presley, there have been a few young singers who have made headlines for sounding like the Jailhouse Rocker himself.
Besides Thibault one of them is 14-year-old Angelina Jordan from Norway. In 2017, Jordan went viral after her performance of Presley’s "Now or Never" circulated the Internet. Presley is a tough act to mimic, but she did so beautifully. She was only 11 years old at the time. And then in 2018, a French teen singer Raffi Arto shocked audiences with his rendition of Presley’s "Can’t Help Falling In Love." Raffi's voice is not the typical teen boy's voice and flows softly throughout the theater. It's eerie how he summons the same power behind his performance that Presley did back in the day.
If Presley Were Alive, He Would Be 86
According to Biography, Elvis Aron Presley was born on Jan. 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Miss. He would later change the spelling of his middle name to "Aaron." He was supposed to be a twin, but his brother Jesse Garon was stillborn.
He did not grow up in a wealthy family, and Presley’s family moved houses often. He was especially close to his mom Gladys Presley and was raised to have strong religious beliefs. Gospel music was a big influence in his life.
He died in 1977, but as we look at his family today, we can all agree, he lives on through them. Elvis Presley married Priscilla Presley in 1967, and they had a daughter named Lisa Marie Presley in 1968. They lived in Memphis, Tenn., at the house known as "Graceland." Lisa Marie Presley was Elvis and Priscilla Presley's only child. In the early parts of 1972, Priscilla Presley left Elvis Presley due to the pressures of his lifestyle. The couple divorced by 1973, and Elvis Presley met Ginger Alden, who later became his fiancee.
Elvis Presley was never the same after he and Priscilla Presley split up. By the time Elvis Presley reached 42 years old, he had multiple health issues, which claimed his life on Aug. 16, 1977. Ginger was the one who found him lying on the bathroom floor inside his home.
In honor of what would have been Presley’s 85th birthday, we invite you to watch the clip of Thibault singing "Blue Christmas" below.
