Daughter Writes 'Be Brave' In Snow For Mom Receiving Treatment For Brain Cancer
Mar 12, 2020
To encourage her mom, Michele Schambach's daughter, Maria Schambach wrote her a message in the snow outside the hospital where she was getting treated in Ohio for brain cancer.
Michele is one lucky woman. She was able to travel from Guatemala to the United States to seek brain cancer treatment at the famed Cleveland Clinic. Once inside her hospital room, she was greeted to a remarkable surprise that brightened her day and the day of everyone who saw it.
Seeking The Best That Medical Science Has To Offer
The word 'oligodendroglioma' is difficult to pronounce and even more difficult to cope with as a cancer diagnosis. When Michele was diagnosed with this form of cancer at the third stage, doctors in her native Guatemala advised her to seek treatment from Dr. Gene Barnett of the Cleveland Clinic Brain Tumor and Neuro-Oncology Center, reports Today.

Giving Everything She Has To Offer
After making the move to undergo both radiation and chemotherapy, test results revealed that the tumor was not improving as everyone had hoped. Michele’s daughter, Dr. Maria Schambach, knew her mother’s strength was sapped by this sad news and that she needed more encouragement to continue her fight. Maria immediately went outside and wrote, “Mom Be Brave,” in the snow and drew a picture of a cancer campaign ribbon on top of it.
Reaching The Heart Of The Community
This giant sign in the snow was just what the doctor ordered. Maria’s mother, other patients, and hospital staff were encouraged by it. One of the Cleveland Clinic social media sites stated that this loving display had "touched [their] hearts”.
Dr. Maria Schambach’s heartwarming message to her mother deserves an equally moving message to the world. Did a family member or friend ever deliver a similarly creative message to you? Perhaps you made a special card, gift, or another token of your affection for someone with cancer. Encourage others by telling the world of your loving display here or through another social media venue.
