Dad Is Out To Eat With His Daughter When Stranger Gives Them A Note That Switches The Mood

Jan 24, 2019

You might be one of an ever-growing demographic: people who grew up without a father around. Maybe you're a kid without his or her dad right now. That's because everyone knows there are too many men with kids who fall short of what a father is meant to be.

One couple out dining on just the right evening saw a way forward for the rest of us. When they caught a fellow diner doing fatherhood the right way they didn't let the moment pass silently. They let him know their appreciation and gave his good example a bit of reinforcement.

The father will go unnamed. Maybe one day he'll be you - and why not? He's not some superhero. The only thing that makes him special is that he loves the time he spends with his daughter. That's why, one evening, he asked his little girl out for a dinner date. It wasn't any particular occasion, it was an opportunity to have fun. However things might've been with his girl's Mom just then, this wasn't the sort of dad who sees "fun" only in terms of being with his girlfriend or buddies.

That night, the fun was at the Old Spaghetti, their favorite Italian restaurant. The father and his six-year-old daughter were having a grand time, cracking corny jokes and making a bit of a mess with the pasta. Nearby, another couple was completely charmed by the sight of their easy but obviously deep bond.

In fact, the couple was so moved that they had their waitress discreetly pass Dad a note. When the surprised father opened it, it read

“Hi, there! Sorry to spy, but my husband and I saw you out with your little date, [We] were so impressed with what a great Dad you are. From two adults who grew up without dads, it’s so important to have a male role model at a young age. Keep up the good work Dad! Dinner is on us!”

Dad nearly broke into tears right there on the spot.

The Washington Times reports that there are 15 million fatherless children in America. That breaks down to one child out of every three. Most of those dads are still out there somewhere. It's a New Year. If you're one of those fathers, there's no better time than now to look into the mirror and decide to do it right.
