Cop Who Handled Boy’s Stolen Bike Case Surprised Him With A New One For His Birthday

It is always sad when we hear stories of bad things happening to good people. Bryan Jeffery, a 7-year-old boy from Arkansas, was devastated after he had his bike stolen. He didn't think he'd get another one for a very long time, but the kindness of Detective Tim Gray from Conway Police Department meant Bryan got a new bike for his birthday.

Bryan was left heartbroken when a man stole the bicycle he received last year as a Christmas gift. According to Fox16, he was inside a grocery store with his sister when the incident took place. When Detective Tim Gray, who was assigned to the case, realized Bryan's bike was stolen just days before his birthday, he knew he had to put things right and put a smile back on the boy's face.

The detective wasn't the only one who wanted to make things up to Bryan. Many members of the community contacted the police station asking what they could do for him. They all clubbed together in cahoots with Bryan's family to throw him a surprise birthday party.

They managed to find Bryan a bike that was similar to the one that was stolen, they also got him a helmet and bike lock so that his bike will be safe in the future and to prevent anything similar from happening again. Not only did they present Bryan with his new bike but they funded a bounce house and had a donated Batman cake.

Detective Gray spoke with Log Cabin Democrat and said “That’s awful for a 6-year-old to lose his bicycle right before his birthday. I’m not going to say right a wrong, but to correct a wrong the best that we can. It’s just good that the whole community of central Arkansas came together for this.”

Bryan's reaction moved everyone to tears. When he saw his new bike he looked stunned and started crying. He hugged his mom, who was also overwhelmed by the moment–but they weren't the only ones. “Just his reaction was priceless. There must have been some dust in the air because my eyes watered up a little bit,” Detective Gray said.

As for Bryan, this act of kindness is further proof that helping people is what he wants to do for his own future. His mom, Carmen Jeffery, told the Log Cabin Democrat:

“When he was in pre-K, they asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up. He dressed up as a police officer, and he still wants to either be a police officer or a firefighter. He just wants to help people.”

We don't doubt Bryan can follow the example set by the Conway Police Department.
