The Mount Sion Choir that meets in Waterford City includes a girl named Jessica Reinl and her partner Christopher Halligan. In this video, they were performing with the rest of the members, according to The Irish Post. The song that they decided to sing was from the loved movie A Star Is Born and was originally sung by Lady Gaga alongside Bradley Cooper. Obviously, this song can be quite difficult to sing when you’re trying to measure up to such amazing celebrities, but these two did it with style and grace!
The lung capacity and shocking talent needed to perform a cover of this song is something that not many people would be able to accomplish! Using his deep voice, Chris began singing Bradley’s part in the song. The piano track going along with their vocals adds to the haunting nature of the amazing rendition.
When Jessica’s turn to sing came along, everyone looks shocked by the incredible and powerful voice that came out of her body! Her partner was even looking over at her, amazed by her sheer talent. His reaction is part of what makes this performance so interesting to watch! Regardless of how many times they’ve sung together, he still looks in awe listening to her sing, and it’s the most adorable moment!
Other members of the choir were smirking and staring at Jessica while she belted out her lyrics, surely in disbelief of the womanly voice and vocal ability that she possesses! Jessica truly shines in her solo moments when she gets to prove that she can handle such a complicated song with eloquence and ease.
The Mount Sion Choir continues to update their fans and post new covers on their YouTube page, which has over 30,000 subscribers. In their most recent video, the Irish choir covered Miley Cyrus' The Climb. But what made the cover extra special was that it was dedicated to First Responders and the National Ambulance Services Ireland.
"We recorded this Miley Cyrus song as a special tribute to the Cardiac First Responders and the National Ambulance Service. We were honoured to sing at their conference last year," the group wrote in the video's YouTube description. "This year we were equally as privileged to sing a song for their virtual concert. Thanks to all the members of both organisations who are making such a difference in these tough times. We truly appreciate everything you do for us."
The group has also performed for other charities, including the Marie Keating Foundation and Concert 4 Cancer, according to one of their YouTube descriptions.
Other excellent covers include Michael Buble's Haven't Met You Yet and Freya Riding's Lost Without You. When you watch them, you'll see why this group of young adults is going places. The group has even performed on television! In 2019, the group performed on RTÉ Ireland, the country's international public broadcaster.
It's truly amazing how far this group has come from recording viral videos to performing in front of a live audience on television. Their story just goes to show that even if you aren't famous or rich to begin with, true talent can take you to the top. At this point, we wouldn't be surprised if these talented kids make it big and show up on BGT or something similar. But until then, we'll just have to wait and see where they end up!
