Celine Dion Tells Critics 'Leave Me Alone' After Being Body-Shamed For New, Thinner Look

Aug 08, 2019

A recent Instagram post by singer Céline Dion has fans discussing her weight. They are worried that she is far too skinny and are concerned that she might be sick.

The photo shows Céline smiling and sitting cross-ankled on the floor in a short black skirt and a t-shirt that says “FOMO” on it. The photo’s caption reads, “F.O.M.O. ⁣⁣It means Fear of Missing Out, or does it? - Team Celine.”

Many of the comments below the photo are a variation of “I love you hon, but you are too skinny,” and others encouraging her to eat. One fan even said, “It's not looking good, really!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻” and another remarked, “PLEASE GAIN SOME WEIGHT!!! YOU ARE VANISHING!” Another commenter said, “She looks so fragile and looks like her bones can crack with just a touch,” and then went on to compare her to Karen Carpenter.

The superstar singer had some answers for her concerned fans in a recent People magazine interview. She attributes her drastic weight loss to her busy performance schedule and the constant dancing she is doing these days. “Dancing has been in my DNA all of my life,” she said to People, “It’s a dream. And so hard!” She is now training with the help of her new friend, dancer Pepe Muñoz. There have been rumors that the two are an item but she insists he’s a friend who also helps with her fashion choices.

Dion clapped back at the critics who had judged her for change in weight in an interview with The Sun's Dan Wootton:

"I'm doing this for me," the singer said. "I want to feel strong, beautiful, feminine and sexy." She made it clear that if people have an issue with how she looks what will happen. "If you like it, I'll be there," Dion said. "If you don't, leave me alone."

The singer celebrated her recent 51st birthday by wrapping up her Las Vegas residency and has also just been named as the face of L’Oreal Paris, reports Vogue. With the recent passing of her husband and manager René Angélil in 2016, it seems like Céline is trying to move forward from the tragedy.
