We are in the middle of a Dionaissance, which sees singer Céline Dion blossoming into her own over the last few years. She has gone through a massive makeover from elegant queen of the stage to an edgy fashion-forward icon. It’s so much fun to take a look back at the diva’s style transformation over her decades-long career.

Born in Quebec, Canada, she was a singer from an early age and her talent blossomed with the help of manager René Angéli. Her career first started in the 80s and early 90s where big sleeves, loud fabrics, and tall hair was in style. Dion embraced the style but kept it classic at the same time.

She married René in 1994, as per her website, when some argue she was at the top of her career. It was right after she sang a duet with Peebo Bryson to be included in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” and right before she released the hit album “Falling Into You,” which hit #1 in 11 countries and scored two Grammys.

Her skyrocketing success put her in the public eye which started her signature look of wearing sparkled, sequined gowns.

The sleek look of figure-hugging gowns worked both on the red carpet and on-stage as a headlining singer all over the world. She added to her already huge success with the release of “My Heart Will Go On” for the “Titanic” soundtrack in 1997, making her an international mainstay. With the world at her and René’s feet, they decided to have children.

Their son René was born in 2001, and they welcomed twins Nelson and Eddy in 2010. Their three sons were a blissful addition to the family but shortly afterward, René was diagnosed with throat cancer, which was in remission for a decade. Sadly, the love of Céline’s life succumbed to the disease and passed away in early 2016. Since then she has been in mourning and taking herself out of her sorrow, expressing herself through fashion.

Her look began to take a more eccentric but stylish turn with the help of her best friend Pepe Muñoz. Dion spoke with ET in 2019 to say:

“I dress for me; the way I feel. I want to feel that I feel great about myself, I feel strong about myself, I feel good about my decisions with the help of a lot of people, but it's all about courage and I think everyone should feel like that.”
