Aside from Dolly PartonReba McEntireTim McGrawGarth Brooks, and many other country music legends, another artist that many would think of when someone says country music is Carrie Underwood.

Underwood stands out among other country music artists with her very distinctive high-register voice. In a review of one of her concerts, The Times Union described that "she'll let loose with an improbably long note that runs through more octaves than you knew existed."

Born on March 10, 1983, Underwood started her singing career when she was young, performing at their church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The singer finally skyrocketed to fame in 2005 following her win on the hit competition series "American Idol."

Following the show, Underwood went on to release a number of successful singles and albums while showcasing her incredible voice and vocal abilities. Some of her most well-known songs include "Before He Cheats," "All-American Girl" and "Jesus, Take The Wheel." Receiving plenty of awards and recognition, Underwood has gone on to become one of the most popular female country singers of all time.

Along with her success in the music industry, Underwood is also living a very colorful family life as a mother and as a wife of 13 years to Canadian-American National Hockey League player Mike Fisher. Fisher, who is more extroverted, seems to complement Underwood, who is actually a little more reserved than how people perceive her to be.

After hitting the big time and becoming a global star, Underwood enjoyed all the trappings that came with it, including living in huge mansions. However, she ditched the high-flying lifestyle for a relatively normal life consisting of doing dishes, laundry and other household chores while living with her family on a farm.

Underwood and Fisher tied the knot at the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation in Georgia, according to PEOPLE. The couple's life became even more magical when they welcomed their first child, Isaiah Michael, in 2015, and their second child, Jacob Bryan, in 2019.

Moving to Nashville eventually after they got married, Fisher signed on with the Nashville Predators after leaving Ottawa Senators. Later on, Fisher became a full-time father to their two sons while Underwood continued pursuing her flourishing career in music.

In March 2022, Underwood released the single “Ghost Story,” which served as the lead single for her ninth studio album “Denim & Rhinestones.” The album was later released in June 2022. The album debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard Top Albums chart, and Underwood embarked on the album’s corresponding tour in October 2022, which culminated in March 2023.

Despite their bustling careers, Underwood and Fisher have always made time for each other and for their family. When Fisher was asked about what he does when his wife is occupied with work, his candid answer also gave US Weekly a glimpse of the couple's relationship dynamics: "I've been just kind of hanging out, just kind of being home and enjoying that. I stay out of her way. I go golfing or go fishing or something."

According to Hello! Magazine, the couple lives on a 400-acre farm in Tennessee. Their home has several bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms and a basement. Their room has its own walk-in closet with floor-to-ceiling wardrobes. The property also has private horse stables and a lake. However, before eschewing the high life for farm life, Underwood had lived in two comfortable mansions before choosing the rustic life.

After her “American Idol” stint and the fame that followed, Underwood bought her first starter mansion in an affluent gated community in a Nashville suburb of Franklin, Tennessee. Underwood reportedly paid $384,000 for the 3,099 square feet stucco mansion that comprised three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms.

However, after marrying Fisher and deciding they wanted to start a family, they upgraded to a bigger mansion, also in a well-to-do neighborhood in Nashville. Underwood sold her mansion for $372,500 in 2007 and moved into her new home with Fisher. The enormous new mansion comprised four bedrooms, four bathrooms and two half-bathrooms over 7,000 square feet. It also included amenities such as a pool bar, gym, tennis court, heated marble floors and a sub-zero fridge and a wine fridge. Awash in earthy tones with plenty of wood highlights, the home exuded a cozy and slightly rustic feel. The porch and deck outside gave a perfect and calming view of the green spaces that surrounded the home.

However, tragedy struck in 2017 when Underwood had a devastating fall outside the home. She suffered serious injuries to her face that required 40-50 stitches and a broken wrist. According to PEOPLE, she told iHeart Radio’s “The Bobby Bones Show”:

“I was taking the dogs out to go pee one last time, and I just — I tripped. There was one step, and I didn’t let go of the leashes! Priorities! So that’s why my left hand’s fine. But I went to catch myself and I just missed a step. If I had fallen anywhere else, I would have been perfectly fine. But it was one step that messed everything up.”

Underwood and Fisher sold their mansion for $1,410,000 in 2019 and moved to their ranch.

However, it’s a different part of the home that is Underwood’s “happy place” – her garden. It is filled with seasonal fruits and vegetables, including mushrooms, zucchinis, squash blossoms, berries, watermelons and tomatoes.

In September 2022, the country singer posted a video on Instagram and showcased her harvest. She hilariously put googly eyes on a piece of produce, proving that it really can be fun doing housework! Underwood captioned the post:

“Not sure I was ever young, hip and carefree, though…🤷‍♀️ #GardenLife #IWetMyPlants #RefusesToBuyProduce #yum.”

As a small-town girl, it only seems fitting that Underwood has found joy in doing household chores and spending plenty of quality time with her loved ones.

In 2016, she shared a photograph of herself on Facebook with a basket of laundry. She wrote, “People often ask me what I do after shows…tonight, I fold laundry “#lame, #mom, #somebodysgottadoit #cleansocks.”

The megastar has also found ways to save money despite having access to a life of luxury. According to Good Housekeeping, she still clips coupons before doing her grocery shopping. Underwood explained:

“Doing the weekly shopping, I stock up on stir-fry kits, Amy’s meatless burgers and armloads of onion and garlic. I put onions and garlic in everything. Ack, as usual, I forgot my coupons. (Yes, I do clip them!).”

Underwood’s chore-doing expands past her house, though, and has been going on for quite some time. In 2012, she posted a photograph of herself mopping on Twitter with the caption, “People often ask me what I do on the bus in my free time! Well, here's a pic to show you...It's very glamorous!”

It’s refreshing to see Underwood enjoying the simpler moments life has to offer.
