Bruce Willis Found His True Love Later In Life And Never Wants To Leave Wife Emma Heming’s Side
Aug 03, 2023
When it comes to top-notch actors in Hollywood, Bruce Willis is a name that many people would put on that list. The actor is most famous for his roles in action films, but he has shown to have quite the diverse set of talents, appearing in films and television shows in a variety of genres. On top of that, Bruce is also adored for his amazing qualities as a husband and father.
Bruce was born on Mar. 19, 1955, in Idar-Oberstein, Germany. He grew up with a German mother and an American father, who was stationed in the United States military at the time of his birth. In 1957, the family moved to the United States and raised Bruce in Penns Grove, New Jersey.
In his teens, Bruce discovered his passion for acting and began participating in his high school’s dramatic arts program. He later moved to New York City and appeared in a few off-Broadway plays before finally finding his footing in the world of television and film.
He had his breakthrough in 1985 with the TV series “Moonlighting,” and has since appeared in over 100 films. While he is recognized for his work as an action star, Bruce has also shown that his talents span a variety of genres. Some of his most loved films include “Pulp Fiction,” “The Sixth Sense” and “Die Hard.”
But while Bruce is loved by many as an actor, he is also loved by his wife, Emma Heming. The two have a beautiful relationship, having tied the knot back in 2009, and have continued to grow their family and share their love with the world.
Bruce is no stranger to having his personal life in the spotlight. He was famously married to actress Demi Moore from 1987 to 2000 and had three children together: Rumer, Scout and Tallulah Willis. Despite their split, Bruce and Moore remained friends and are still close to this day.
Afterward, Bruce was in another relationship with someone that he once planned to marry. He got engaged to Brooke Burns in 2004, but after 10 months together, the couple decided to call it quits.
Fortunately, Bruce didn’t give up on love, and he finally found his way to Heming, the woman he now calls his wife. Heming is a model and an actress who was first discovered when she was just 16 years old. She has appeared in several advertisements around the world for brands such as Escada, Garnier and Redken. Heming has also walked several fashion shows for designers such as Christian Dior, Chanel and Valentino.
Back in 2009, Bruce revealed that it only took one date for him and Heming to fall in love with each other. “We went on one date, on the Friday before Emma was getting ready to move back to New York, and then we fell mad crazy in love,” he said. “When you think about where are you going to find that big love of your life, you seldom think it’s someone you already know. You think it’s someone you’re yet to meet.”
Ever since then, Bruce and Heming have been inseparable, and their relationship has continued to grow beautifully.

In 2009, Bruce and Heming tied the knot. The couple first wed on Mar. 21, 2009, in the Turks and Caicos Islands and also had a civil ceremony at a friend’s home in Beverly Hills, California, six days later, according to TODAY. Some of their wedding guests included Moore and her then-husband, Ashton Kutcher.
Since then, Bruce and Heming have built a beautiful family together. They welcomed their first daughter, Mabel, in April 2012, and their second daughter, Evelyn, in May 2014. Bruce’s big blended family gets along well and regularly takes photos together for social media. Bruce once told W Magazine that his family had "become like a tribe" and that he understood why their situation generates so much attention.
"Everyone can understand resentment and envy in the breakup of a marriage, but they don’t understand how I can get along with my ex like that. Demi and I made a choice to put the kids first, and we’re really lucky that it turns out we all have fun together. I still love her, and I have a lot of respect for how she lives her life.”
According to Elle Decor, Bruce and Heming live together in a Craftsman-style home in Bedford Hills, New York, where they tend to their vegetable garden and spend time with each other and their kids.
In 2021, Heming celebrated the couple’s 12th anniversary by uploading an adorable picture of them onto Instagram. In the caption, she wrote:
“We’ve had our fair share of floating-on-air ups and disheartening downs. But he is my person. There’s no one I would want to go through this crazy thing called marriage with than with him. He’s my family, he’s given me the family (and more) I dreamed of and I love him to my core.”
On Mar. 30, 2022, the world was left heartbroken at the announcement of Bruce's retirement. Both Heming and Moore posted the same picture and caption on their respective Instagram accounts, explaining that Bruce was diagnosed with aphasia and so decided to retire from acting. Bruce was later diagnosed with dementia, and Heming and his entire family rallied around him to give him the care and support he needed.
Heming, in particular, has remained devoted to Bruce’s well-being, no doubt the result of the strong foundation they built together. Back in 2009, Bruce recalled that prior to meeting Heming, he had been in a bad place.
“I went from ‘F— love’ to ‘Love is truly the answer. I spent the last 10 years single and, for the most part, unhappy. In a dark place. I never thought that being with someone else was the answer. I would say, ‘I’m alone, but I’m not lonely.’ But I was just kidding myself. Then I started hanging around Emma, and on a day-to-day basis my life became much happier,” Bruce said.
The pair was so happy that for their 10th anniversary, they renewed their vows in a simple outdoor ceremony surrounded by friends and family. In an Instagram post remembering the happy day, Heming urged her fans to “Seize every opportunity to unite and celebrate with family and friends. Those are the moments and beautiful pockets of memories that you get to hold on to for a lifetime. And we get to keep those memories safe and alive for the ones that might not be able to 💌”
In 2017, Bruce spoke highly of finding love with Heming. “I don’t want to be away from Emma at all,” he told Closer Weekly. “It’s the most singular relationship I’ve ever had in my life.”
