Bradley Cooper Is Happy To Live With His Mom And Take Her On Red Carpet Dates
Jan 12, 2023
Bradley Charles Cooper was born on Jan. 5, 1975. The actor is of Irish and Italian ancestry and has one older sister named Holly. His late father, Charlie Cooper, was a Merrill Lynch stockbroker, while his mother, Gloria Campano Cooper, worked with the local NBC affiliate in Pennsylvania.
Cooper grew up with one sister outside Philadelphia and was raised Catholic. He is Italian through his mother, Irish through his father, and Catholic through both. He has mentioned in interviews that he still prays daily.
Making his film debut in 2001 with "Wet American Hot Summer," Cooper worked extremely hard in the industry to take his place in the world. However, the actor skyrocketed to fame almost overnight with the success of "The Hangover," from which he made $600,000, and then a cool $5 million for the sequel in 2011, according to Hello! Magazine.
He is so well-liked that fellow actor Robert De Niro has invited him to stay at his house numerous times. Even David O. Russell, a notoriously demanding director, has expressed eagerness to work with Cooper over and over again. But Cooper didn't gain fame and success from nothing.
Unbeknownst to many, Cooper has kept strong bonds with his family, specifically his mother, which he has been very vocal about on numerous occasions. Aside from speaking very dearly about his mother, he also takes her out on special dates, most of which are on the red carpet when he is invited for awards shows and ceremonies. Read on to learn more about Cooper’s strong relationship with his mother.
The youngest among two children, Cooper has an older sister, Molly. Growing up, Cooper admitted that he wasn’t someone who stood out from the crowd. It was only when he played the part of Joseph Merrick in an excerpt from the play “The Elephant Man” on a local show that his parents were convinced that he could become a great actor.
Eventually, his career took off, starting from his television debut on “Sex and The City,” acting opposite Sarah Jessica Parker. But despite his fame and numerous accolades, the “A Star Is Born” actor remains grounded and still treats his family as dearly as he did back then.
His mother Gloria and father Charles have been very supportive of his career. That is why when his father became ill in 2011, he moved in back to their home to spend more time with him.
In a profile published by The New York Times, Cooper revealed a touching moment with his father on his deathbed. Dying in 2011 because of cancer, Cooper said that he held his father until his dying breath – and after that point – everything changed.
Since his father’s passing, Cooper spent more time with his family to the point where he did not leave home to accompany his mother, Gloria.
In a 2013 interview, Cooper revealed that he had been living in the same home as his mother.
"My family is very close, and my dad dying was brutal for all of us. It was a schism, and its aftershock has not stopped," he confessed. "And we need each other. So here we are. But don't get me wrong. It's not without complications. It's not like I live in a compound and she's in the guesthouse. No. She's in the next room.”

While for others, that may seem quite odd, considering he was already in his early to mid-40s at the time, Cooper was proud of it.
At the start of the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic, Cooper began living with his mother and daughter, whom he shares with model Irina Shayk, he told Anthony Ramos in a conversation with Interview Magazine.
“I’m with my daughter and my mother and my two dogs, and we have not left the house. My mother is going to be 80, and she has a colostomy bag, so I can’t let anybody in the house. And I can’t leave the house, because if she gets it, it’s over,” he told Ramos.
He also cheekily revealed that as they take quarantine measures seriously, the actor lives with his daughter and mother in a little townhouse with a backyard, running a one-man preschool where he makeshift a swim class in their own bathtub.
Ever since, the two have been really close, even taking up his mother on special dates like the Oscars red carpet. At the 2022 Oscars, Cooper’s date to the ceremony was his mother.
While some people would be ashamed of taking their mothers to work because of fear of embarrassment, the two made everyone’s hearts melt as they strut the red carpet together, with Cooper dressed in an elegant black Gucci tuxedo. Gloria, as always, looked chic as she wore a floor-length black dress with a silver sequined blazer.
This was not the first time they went together as mother and son. According to Harper’s Bazaar, they famously walked at the 2019 Oscars with Cooper’s ex, Shayk, and at the 25th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.
