Black Cat Won't Stop Staring At Photo Of Navy Son Until Mom Figures Out The Heartbreaking Truth Why
Jul 16, 2018
There is something remarkable about the connection some humans have with their pets. Of course, whenever we hear a touching story of a much-devoted pet, the loving animal we typically find is a loyal dog. We oftentimes don’t hear about that magnitude of devotion from cats, those infamously independent creatures who grace us with their presence. However, this story is different.
This story stars Yuuki, a gorgeous black cat whose human companions found her at the local animal shelter.
After spending much time pining for a family, Yuuki managed to convince Erin Nimrichter and her teenage son Max to take her home. There, Yuuki found her forever home, quickly bonding with both and finding the perfect snuggle partner in her best friend, Max.

Although Erin, too, gave Yuuki lots of love and attention, Erin couldn’t hold a candle to Max. In Yuuki’s eyes, Max was the perfect human companion and she adored being near him.
Max’s mom explains Yuuki’s devotion to her son by describing how there was no other way for Yuuki to respond to her son: “Max has always felt connections to any animals he was around. He’s a sweetheart.”
But poor Yuuki, only six months after finding her human soulmate and being adopted into her forever home, found herself dealing with heartbreak.
Her beloved Max had left for the Navy.
When Max left for boot camp, his worry was primarily about his mom. He knew she would miss him and hoped that Yuuki would be good company in his absence. What he did not expect was to be told of his feline companion’s sorrow over his absence. He did not think he would have to worry about Yuuki being lonesome. To highlight just how much she was heartbroken, Yuuki found herself a new favorite spot to pine, and that is right in front of Max’s photo.
Thinking that perhaps Yuuki just liked that spot, Erin decided to experiment with the photo by placing it at various spots around the house. She noticed Yuuki followed the photo, standing guard next to it no matter where it was placed. Struck by Yuuki’s absolute love for her son, Erin knows for sure Yuuki longs for Max’s return: “She just sits there, stares and meows and then lays down next to the picture to nap. I know for sure she misses him.”
Lucky for Yuuki, Max was able to reunite with Yuuki during a scheduled visit. For Max serving his first year in the U.S. Navy, such a visit with his beloved pet will never be forgotten.
Yuuki is waiting for Max to serve his six years, and we all pray for his safe return to both his mom and his devoted feline companion.
