Bindi Irwin Returns To Social Media With New Snapshots Of 'Beautiful Angel' Baby Grace
Jul 15, 2021
After around a 3-week break from social media, Bindi Irwin and husband Chandler Powell delighted fans on Thursday when they posted a series of adorable family photos with their newborn daughter. The series’ first photo shows the couple holding a nearly 4-month-old Grace Warrior Irwin Powell in front of a picturesque backdrop, illuminated by the setting sun.
Bindi, 22, gave birth to her first child on March 25, 2021, which she and Powell, 24, announced to the world on social media. The couple’s announcement soon went viral as Irwin fans from around the world heard the news. As if the birth of the animal-loving couple’s first baby wasn’t special enough, Bindi and Powell revealed that Grace was also born on their first wedding anniversary.
Since that special day, both Irwin and her husband have been keeping fans up to date via social media, posting photos (and a video) with the newborn regularly. Besides Thursday’s series of photos, other highlights include the first publicly released video of the child, which was taken when the baby was just 3 weeks old.
Bindi’s romance with Powell has captivated fans of the Irwin family since July 2019 when the two announced their engagement. From what fans have heard of the couple, it often seems like Bindi and Powell are a match made in heaven. Take the couple’s wedding as an example. Although the global pandemic forced Bindi and Powell to change some of their arrangements, they still managed to have what seemed like a magical wedding in the gardens of the Australia Zoo in Queensland on March 25, 2020. Their ceremony even included a koala — not to mention a beautiful floral arrangement.
In June, Bindi announced that she would be taking a break from social media after she spoke out and criticized her estranged grandfather, Bob Irwin.
“Hi guys, Just a note to say thank you for your support. I'm taking a break from social media and most of my work in the public eye for a month to be with my beautiful daughter and my wonderful family,” she wrote on Instagram, according to The Daily Mail.
Bindi broke her social media silence on Thursday with an upbeat post on her Instagram. The series of photos received more than 300,000 likes in fewer than 12 hours.
“A collection of my favourite moments this month. Our beautiful angel has started giggling all the time and absolutely loves nature walks, looking for wildlife with us. Can you believe she’ll be 4 months old soon?! Infinite love and gratitude in my heart,” the 22-year-old mother captioned the collection of photos.
When Grace was born, Bindi broke the news a day later on Instagram. The heartfelt post included a photo of Powell and Bindi holding their newborn together, as well as a second photo of Grace’s first outfit and an information card with details about the birth.
“Celebrating the two loves of my life. Happy first wedding anniversary to my sweetheart husband and day of birth to our beautiful daughter,” Bindi wrote on Instagram, where the post received more than 1.4 million likes.
Bindi and Powell first announced that they were expecting a child on Aug. 11, 2020 in a surprise post to their social media accounts. At the time, Bindi said that she was still somewhere in her first trimester.

She updated fans on Instagram again on Sept. 22, 2020, writing that she and Powell were expecting a baby girl. The 22-year-old star posted the announcement alongside a photo of herself, her husband, a giant Aldabra tortoise and a sonogram of their unborn child.
Bindi, who has become a conservationist and television star in the spirit of her late father Steve, married then-24-year-old Powell on March 25, 2020, according to CNN. In keeping with the family’s love for animals, Bindi and Powell held the secret wedding in the gardens of Australia Zoo in Queensland. As bizarre and unusual as that may seem, the zoo still belongs to the Irwin family — in fact, the family lives there together — as it’s the same facility that Bindi’s grandparents opened in the 1970s. And now, it’s become the place where Bindi and Powell tied the knot.
“Chandler, When I went to write my vows I found I couldn’t stop writing them,” Bindi wrote in a April 17, 2020 Instagram post alongside a photo from the wedding.
Days after the then-21-year-old conservationist Bindi tied the knot at the secret candlelit zoo wedding in Queensland, Australia, Bindi’s mother reflected on the fact that her husband didn’t get the chance to see their daughter married.
In the March 28, 2020, post to Terri’s Twitter account, the then-56-year-old widow wrote an emotional tribute along with a photo of the late Steve holding his baby son, Robert, at a wedding. Both Robert and Steve were wearing khaki, Steve’s perennial color of choice.
“Remembering @RobertIrwin’s first wedding. I love that Steve and Robert both wore khaki. I know Steve would have worn khaki to Bindi & Chandler’s wedding, too,” Terri wrote on Twitter.
“I wish he could have been there to see the most special day in his daughter’s life. We miss him so much.” In a reply to her mother’s emotional message, which has received an outpouring of support from users on the platform, Bindi Irwin wrote that her mother’s message was “beautiful.”
The late Australian zookeeper, Steve, was best known for his charming role on the show “The Crocodile Hunter.” He died in 2006 at the age of 44 after a stingray pierced his chest while the star was filming a documentary, leaving behind children Bindi and Robert, according to CNN.
The 44-year-old father’s death led to an outpouring of support from fans, environmentalists and friends of the idiosyncratic television host. Steve’s show, “The Crocodile Hunter,” was so successful that it appeared in more than 100 countries on cable television. The television star was also a frequent guest on talk shows like “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” to “Live With Regis and Kelly.” He is perhaps most well known and remembered for his enthusiastic catch phrases like “Check out the size of this bloke!”, “Whew, he’s getting cranky!”, “Isn’t she a beauty?” and “Crikey!”
Since 2018, Bindi has amassed a following of her own loyal fans partly through her appearances on the Australian reality television show “Crikey! It's the Irwins.” Robert and Terri — and now Powell — also appear on the show, showcasing their lives as they care for animals at the Australia Zoo. The show’s third season broadcasted its finale on April 18, 2021.
