Mar 15, 2018

Washing your hair too frequently can do more damage than good. Constant washing causes your skin to excrete more fat which damages your hair and can make it appear greasy causing you to was hit more - a vicious circle that is hard to break! But follows these tips and you can go days without washing your hair!

1. Use Dry Shampoo To Hide Shine

Dry shampoo is a great option if your hair is greasy and shiny. Simply separate your hair into smaller parts and add dry shampoo to the roots, holding the bottle about 8-10 inches away from your hair. Let the powder set for 10 minutes, comb it through, and your hair will be looking freshly washed in no time!

2. Use Accessories To Hide Grease and Frizz

This tip is especially useful if you have short hair. You can use bobby pins and accessories such as scarfs and headbands to help disguise greasy hair. If you want to pull some fringe forward, simply wash that part first. If you want to keep your fringe hidden, pin it back, or style it elegantly using the headpiece.

3 Braid Your Hair

Braids are a quick and effortless way to hide unwashed hair in a flash! Braid your hair using thick strands, and slightly tease your hair at the crown to keep it from looking flat. A loose braid with messier pieces sticking out is better than a smooth braid when trying to hide shine.

4. Comb Your Hair Before Bed

Before bed, comb your hair. Lay back on your pillow and pull your hair back extending from the top of your head before placing it in a ponytail or braid. In the morning, you can simply take your hair down and go, with no need to brush it, since brushing it out can reduce volume and enhance shine.

5. Switch Up Your Part

Changing the way you normally part your hair will create new areas of lift and volume. Since hair typically becomes dirtier along the part, switching up your part will reveal roots that are cleaner and fresher looking.

6. Avoid Sleek Hair Styles

When your hair is dirty, a sleek or smooth style will accentuate the greasiness. Instead, opt for styles that add texture and volume, such as teasing your roots and placing hair in a messy bun.

7. Wash Your Hair Styling Tools

Clean your hair styling tools once a week to reduce and prevent a build up of residue from your hair, skin and products. You can wash your tools using warm water and soap, or shampoo.
