At 89, 'The Partridge Family's Shirley Jones Has 13 Grandchildren And Looks Stunning With White Hair

"The Partridge Family" was one of the most popular musical comedies of the 1970s. The sitcom which ran from 1970 to 1974 on ABC was loosely premised on the true-life story of the Cowsills who were renowned for their music between the late '60s and early '70s. The comedy series was based on a musically inclined family of six with a widowed mother. The five children urge their mother to support their music. After their first song becomes a success, they decide to go on a tour in their customized bus.

Some notable stars who featured in the series included country singer Johnny Cash, Ray Bolger, Rosemary DeCamp, then-governor Ronald Reagan's daughter, Maureen Reagan, Jaclyn Smith and Farrah Fawcett. However, Shirley Jones was its face and life. Jones is most renowned today for her role in the musical sitcom where she played Shirley Partridge. Despite starring in many more TV shows and films, she is mostly known for that role. 

Interestingly, Jones has been out of the public eye for a while which explains why fans were surprised when they saw her most recent pictures on social media. She has always been a beauty, but fans were still surprised when they saw her glowing at age 89 on March 31, 2023. Despite having aged and sporting white hair, the actress looked fabulous as she stunned in pictures posted on her family's social media.

Jones’ impact in Hollywood is very great and undebatable. However, her greatest pride and achievement is her family. The legendary actress is a mother of three sons, Shaun, Patrick and Ryan Cassidy, who she shares with her ex-husband and actor, Jack Cassidy. Jones and Jack tied the knot on Aug. 5, 1956, but divorced in 1975. She got married for a second time to comedian Marty Ingels on Nov. 13, 1977. The pair faced several challenges in their marriage and almost separated in 2002. However, they remained married until Ingels’ death on Oct. 21, 2015. 

Besides being a legendary actress, Jones has devoted most of her life to caring for her sons and raising them to be great men. The doting mom’s impact on her boys’ lives was so great that two of them, Shaun and Patrick, followed in her footsteps by pursuing careers in entertainment. Meanwhile, the youngest, Ryan, became a law enforcement officer but still chased an acting career. 

Besides Shaun, Patrick and Ryan, Jones also had a stepson, David Cassidy, who her ex-husband, Jack, shared with actress Evelyn Ward. David was also into entertainment, continuing the family legacy. Through her sons and late stepson, Jones is a proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren. She loves every one of her grandkids and enjoys spending time with them. 

There is so much love in Jones’ family, as everyone is there for each other. Besides her grandkids, the iconic actress also has a great relationship with her daughters-in-law, as was seen in a picture Shaun shared on Nov. 17, 2021, that showed his wife, Tracey, and Jones, posing in the streets of Nashville. The love and happiness Jones instilled in her family were on full display when her sons took turns wishing her a happy birthday when she turned 89.

Jones turned 89 on March 31, 2023, and her sons took to social media to wish her a happy birthday. Shaun led the way by posting a throwback picture of his mom on her 21st birthday next to another one of her on the day before her 89th birthday. In the post’s caption, Shaun wrote: 

“68 years ago on her 21st birthday and yesterday at lunch. Ageless! Happy Birthday Mom!”

Shaun’s recent picture of his mom showed that despite sporting sparse eyebrows and white hair, Jones looked ageless and as beautiful as ever as she smiled sweetly. 

Patrick celebrated his mom’s birthday by posting several photos of her. One of the pictures showed a younger Jones carrying an infant Patrick. Another snap showed the proud mom doting on a grown and handsome Patrick, while a more recent picture showed Patrick hugging his mom. The last picture showed Jones posing with Patrick and his brothers. Patrick captioned the post: 

“And today she turns 89. Happy Birthday to Mrs. Partridge, Marian The Librarian, but most of all, our MOM. I miss you so much. Can’t wait to see you in July. ❤️”

Many of Shaun and Patrick’s followers reacted to their posts by gushing about their mom and commenting on how ageless she looked. Others expressed surprise at how healthy Jones looked as they had barely seen or heard about her in recent times. 

Before Shaun and Patrick’s birthday tributes to their beloved mom, the last reported sighting of Jones was in August 2022, when she was captured stepping out for dinner with friends in Los Angeles. Then, the rarely-seen actress wore a pink tracksuit, looking as gorgeous as ever. Jones is clearly older now, but one thing is clear — she remains an ageless beauty!
