Alan Jackson Shows Private Snapshots In Music Video For "The Older I Get"

Aug 15, 2020

At 61 years old, Alan Jackson may be comparatively young for a living country music legend, but it's safe to say that he has led a full and eventful life. His 2017 song "The Older I Get", released to coincide with his then-induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, captures the singer reflecting on his life. The accompanying video even gives us, the viewers, a rare chance to look at some actual snapshots of his private life and his family.

Hardly anybody enjoys the thought of getting old. But when Alan Jackson reflects on his life and his advanced years, there's no lamenting or sadness in sight anywhere. Instead, he looks at the positive things that often appear only late in life. After all, with age supposedly comes wisdom.

For such a special song, it is only appropriate that the producers came up with very special video as well. In it, Jackson shares some of his most precious memories through pictures of his life, capturing some of the most valuable moments he has lived through.

A video like this has to be a very special treat for his fans. After all, it is always nice to know where someone you like comes from. Many celebrities share their present and recent past with their fans through social media. But with a video like this, we get to witness and enjoy actual photos of Jackson in his childhood and as a teenager. He also added a few snapshots of his wedding. Jackson manages to combine his art with his private life, giving us a chance to get to know him better through this video.

Apart from private photos, the video also features a few excerpts from former Alan Jackson video clips, including the ones for "Remember When" and "Drive." Still other clips come from some of Jackson's most memorable live performances, usually from country music award shows. At the very end, the video incorporates a clip of Jackson during a 2017 performance. This brings everything once again into the present.
