After Describing His Late Wife To A Sketch Artist, This Man Is Moved To Tears By Her Response

Dec 08, 2018

A man sits on a quiet stage. There's no one there but himself and an artist. It looks like some kind of performance piece. The man is very hesitant, but the artist is patient. They ask the man to describe the subject. He does so with tenderness.

Videographer Alex Mandel captured this touching moment. Like a police office's forensic artist, the woman behind the easel is prepared to capture the essence of whoever she's told to present.

The artist opened by asking the man if she should draw a man or a woman. The man said that he wanted a drawing of his wife. They had been married for 62 years. He explained what the secret was:

"Make her your friend, and never lie to her."

What was the shape of her face? The man smiled and said she was simply "angelic." Her face was round and sweet. She had beautiful brown hair.

Then the artist realized something. All of the descriptions were in the past tense. He seemed uncomfortable talking and wouldn't meet her eyes. The artist asked him directly: was his wife still alive?

The man admitted that his wife had passed on. The artist said she was sorry - and the man said, "me too." His wife must have been a beautiful woman: her brown eyes were full of love. Whenever she looked at you, she made you feel special. Her eyelashes were so lovely she never wore fake ones. And when she smiled, she'd always light up a room.

Finally, the artist was done with her work.

She handed it over to the man. He began to cry as he examined the painting. Not only had the artist sketched his wife's likeness, but she'd also gotten it "beyond right". Check out the video of it right here:
