Oct 02, 2018
Getting a good night’s sleep is very important as those that are not able to get enough sleep each night could struggle mightily the next day. When you are trying to fall asleep at night, finding a way to get rid of stress and to relax is very important.
For those that are looking to fall asleep faster, doing some yoga can be a great option. There are nine yoga poses in particular that are proven to help you to relax and fall asleep.
Hero Pose
Start sitting on your knees with your buttocks on your heels. When in this position, you will want to slowly move your head back to the floor as far as you can. Ideally, you will be able to lay your head on the ground for a full stretch. If not, balance yourself with your elbows.

Cat and Mouse
In this pose, you will want to start on your hands and knees with an arched back. You will then want to raise and lower your head while imagining you are like a cat making the same move. This will help you to relax your mind while giving your back and neck a great stretch.
Child’s Pose
The child’s pose will start very similar to the cat pose, while you are on your hands and knees. However, you will then slowly bring your buttocks backward while extending your arms in front of you. At the end position, your arms will be fully stretched out in from of your while facing down.
Boat Pose
Start sitting on your buttocks with your legs extended forwards and leaning back slightly. You will want to hold this pose, which will activate your core. To relax further, you will want to pull your legs inwards back towards your body.
Legs Up the Wall
To complete this move, you will need to be sitting near a wall. You will want to start lying on the floor with your knees up and feet on the wall while making a 90-degree angle. You will then want to slowly push yourself closer to the wall as your legs rise up on the wall.
Supine Spinal Twist
This move is one of the best hip and leg stretches out there. You will be able to lay on your back while twisting both hips to either side of your body. This will then encourage a great stretch and allow you to relax. Once you hold the position for a few seconds, you will want to switch it back over to the other side to change the position.
Happy Baby
When lying on your back, bring your knees together and lift them up slightly. You will then want to place your hands and fingers behind your knees. You should then rock back and forth slowly. When doing this, you will want to focus on having a rocking rhythm that matches your breathing.
Reclining Goddess
The Reclining Goddess Pose is very similar to the Happy Baby pose. The main difference is that you will want to spread your knees slightly to open up your body. You will then want to rock to the sides slightly as well.
Corpse Pose
Finally, the last way that you can learn to relax is by doing the corpse pose. With that pose, you will lie flat on your back and extend your legs while allowing your feet and legs to lie relaxed. When doing this pose, you need to concentrate on your breathing and keep your eyes closed.
