12 Common Items The Future Will Not Have Anymore

May 23, 2018

One of the basic truths of life and existence in general is that things don't last forever. Every beginning is paired with an ending, even if you might not know when that ending will be. As time moves on, there will be things that you take for granted now that your grandchildren might not ever know. Here are some things that future generations will never experience.

1. Chocolate

There is a greater demand for chocolate than the world can supply, which puts immense pressure on existing sources. It could be extinct within a single lifetime.

2. Gold

Gold will be required for advanced electronics, so its value as a currency will diminish. That has already started to happen since most gold has been mined, so the price could start to drop soon.

3. Cash

Any form of payment that doesn't use biometric scans will probably be obsolete in the very near future. Once a standardized system is created, those digital checks will be more than sufficient.

4. Signatures

For the longest time, your signature was your sign for a formal agreement. However, the future will use biometric scans for everything to ensure no forgery is possible.

5. Remote Controls

Some homes are already seeing a reduction in remote control usage thanks to digital assistants like Google Home and Amazon Alexa. Voice controls will take over the future, leaving remotes obsolete.

6. Traffic

Once autonomous vehicles become standard, the human element will be replaced by advanced computer systems that prevent log jams and delays. Many autonomous vehicles are already being tested.

7. Fast Food Employees

As AI and robotic technology advances, the workforce will be slowly replaced with machines that operate at a cheaper price point than a real person.

8. Surgeons

Along with general labor, skilled labor will eventually be replaced by advanced robotic systems piloted by state-of-the-art artificial intelligence.

9. Diabetes

Science is exceptionally close to a working cure for diabetes that would drastically reduce and even eliminate the condition from society.

10. Privacy

Since everything you do will relate to technology in some way, all of it will be recorded.

11. Keys and Locks

They might still be around, but most people will opt for advanced card readers or push-button ignitions that use biometric scans to prevent theft.

12. Chargers

People already hate being tethered to a charging cord, and wireless charging methods are starting to crop up to combat this situation. It won't be long before devices can charge from any location as long as they are within range of the source, even if they aren't physically connected with a cable.
