John, a 100-year-old World War II veteran, and Phyllis, a native of West Virginia who is about to turn 103 on August 8, have been dating for the past year. As a devout Christian, Phyllis believed marriage was naturally the next step in their relationship. So they went to the courthouse to get a marriage license.

John explains that they never planned on actually getting married that day; they were just there for the license, but at the courthouse, John and Phyllis were told they could go ahead and be married if they wanted. John was abrupt and told them yes. The two lovebirds got it over with and spent their honeymoon back at the Kingston Residence as the "it" couple.

John and Phyllis were both widowed twice, and they know the truth about what makes a relationship last. They say it's all about respecting each other's space. The couple continues to live separately in their own apartments; he's downstairs and she's upstairs. When John was asked about their preferred activity together, he responded, "Well I probably shouldn't talk about that."
