10 Simple And All-Natural Ways To Heal Receding Gums

Aug 24, 2018

Gum recession happens when gums pull back from the teeth and expose the tooth and sometimes even its roots. This creates space for bacteria to flourish. The bone and tissue structure around the tooth can be damaged, and there may eventually be tooth loss. Gum recession may be caused by genetics, brushing teeth too hard, hormones or gum disease. It can also be caused by inadequate dental hygiene and the buildup of tartar on your teeth. However, there are natural remedies for gum recession that can reverse the process.

Sea Salt and Water

Rinsing your mouth with sesame seed oil is another solution. You might have heard this referred to as "oil pulling." Sesame oil is both antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. You should spend about 15 minutes per day swishing the oil around in your mouth. It should become thinner as you are doing this. Then spit it out, and rinse your mouth with water.

Chamomile

One cup of green tea a day reduces gum bleeding, makes gums attach better to teeth and decreases the depth of periodontal pockets. With more cups of green tea, results get better.

Septilin

This is a traditional Ayurvedic medicine. According to the "Journal of Periodontal Implant Science," periodontal outcomes improve in just three weeks after taking Septilin as a dietary supplement. It is good for the immune system and helps with inflammation.

Flossing

This is almost as good as oil pulling for reduction of plaque and bacteria. You don't have to floss daily, but doing so a few times per week along with regular brushing may help prevent receding gums.

People often do not notice that gum recession is happening because its onset is so gradual. However, it can cause serious teeth and health problems, so the sooner it is caught the better.
